Difference between PVC and Polycarbonate

PVC Chairmat - Keyhole
The difference between Polycarbonate and PVC in chair-mats.

Polycarbonate is a plastic formed because of a reaction between Bisphenol A and phosgene – a plastic composed from a carbonate group.

PVC is a plastic and it is the polymer of vinyl chloride monomer – a plastic formed from chloride.

Polycarbonate is the same material used to make bullet proof glass, meaning it is stronger than PVC, resulting in polycarbonate usually carrying a longer warranty than PVC products.

Both polycarbonate and PVC are thermoplastics, a plastic that is molded at higher temperatures and solidifies as it cools. The difference between polycarbonate and PVC is that PVC is composed of a chloride group, and polycarbonate is composed of a carbonate group.

PVC chair-mats come in a keyhole or rectangle shape, whilst polycarbonate chair-mat's come in rectangle shapes.
